Bring on the new year

January 1.

My resolutions this year are not in fibonacci sequence. Instead of new year's resolutions, I'm making weekly/monthly/quarterly plans. By breaking things down into more manageable pieces they'll seem less overwhelming, which I hypthosize will make them more likely to get accomplished.

Actually, I do have one year-long goal, which is to take and upload a photo a day.

Speaking of photos, I moved two years worth of photos from my internal harddrive to an external drive.

Now that my iPhoto library has 4,500 less photos, it's quite a bit snappier. Here's how I did it:

1. Copy my "iPhoto Library" folder (in /users/[username]/Pictures) to an external drive
2. Rename "iPhoto Library" on external drive to "Photos 2005-2006" (or whatever you want)
3. Delete "iPhoto Library" on internal drive
4. Launch iPhoto and hold down the option key
5. Click Create new library

Now I've got a fresh library to work with. If I ever need/want to access the old library, I can just hold down option while launching iPhoto and it will give me the option to load the old library instead of the new one.
