Bowling update

We're three weeks into our bowling experiment. Before the start of the experiment, I would have put my bowling average at about 125. My scores have varied pretty wildly, as you will see in the graphics below.

Week 1: Las Vegas

Bowling scores week 1

I find it interesting that I actually got better as the games went on. I guess I was just getting more comfortable, but I would have thought I would have been getting tired and not as focused. That 179 was a personal best.

Week 2: Atlanta

week 2 scores

This was probably the best 3-game series I've ever rolled, including a new single-game personal best (like last week, also in the third game).

Week 3: Atlanta

week 3 scores

And this is where things return to "normal."

At this stage in the experiment, my single-game average is 146 and my series average is 440. With such a wide range of scores (102-186), there's no clear trends to take away, but at least it's a good looking chart.

Pfft, well, you're much better than I am. I often take the kids I work with out bowling and they beat me a lot. My worst is probably around 35 and my best is around 80. Admittedly, I try to let the kids beat me. But I don't try that hard. I just suck real bad.

I keep forgetting to mail your letter!!!

You really should try to blame the low score on the weather or other reasonable phenomenon, you know, just how football players blame altitude for their poor playing in Denver - because, well, we all know the Broncos suck.
It's all those tornados. They're throwing off your Chi. Or Tao. Or whatever Curts have.

I am the world's most unpredictable bowler. I usually start out with a strike or spare, and then I can't hit pins to save my life. I always finish with a couple strikes in between....

It's great to bowl strikes, but they don't matter so much when you're not consistent! :-(

Do you use a special ball to pick up spares? I used to bowl at a place that had a ball called "The Hammer" that I'd use for my first ball, then I'd switch to "The Hugger" for spares. I figured it was designed to hug the gutter on the way to a 7 or 10 pin. I'm not sure if it helped.
